Lisbon Weekly Photo

The idea came up after visiting several “DailyPhoto” sites, particularly the one from Paris, which is my other favorite city. Since LisbonDailyPhoto was getting posts very irregularly, I decided to create this place. Although my skills and my Exilim Z110 are very limited, I hope to deserve your visit. Please leave your comments (any comments) so I can improve.

Lisbon Half Marathon

The 17th edition of the International Lisbon Half Marathon took place this Sunday. To most of the 36.000 participants (this blogger included) it was an excuse to cross the 25 de Abril Bridge. No doubt it was worthwhile.

No doubt??? Why? Haven't you finished running yet?
Seriously, great pictures, but for me (as another insider on these places), the real surprise is in pictures 1 & 2. I have tried many times to take photos while crossing the 25 de Abril from the car. You always have the red metal barriers. But both this one towards Belem and the one looking down on the Almada portagem (LOL...forgotten the English word!)
look like you were in a helicopter! Higher than the bridge, at least. What camera? KEEP ON RUNNIN'. When we meet next, you can show me your medal, OK?

Stewart,
In Vasco da Gama I did whole 9 Km (5,5 miles) but here I only "walked" half way (in Alcântara I took the bus back home). #1 is from Pragal Bridge facing the toll gates (LOL) with my Exilim; #2 is from 25 de Abril facing west also with Exilim; #3 is from 25 de Abril facing east with a Nikon D70 and a 70x220 lens.

Congrats on finishing.

A Nikon D70? Me? Are you kidding?
It's from of mine and since he has such lens I took it.

OMG CARLOS! I can't get over how much these shots remind me of San Francisco!!!

The BRIDGE?
The road leading up to it with that white building and the plants...so similar to the area leading up to the Golden Gate!!!

And the shots of the waterfront?

Too wierd!

Would love to come visit someday!
;)xo

Hot damn! Keep having to choose my own identity, enter it a zillion times & end up losing the spontaneous comment-offering.
Carlos/Paul/Ame/Monica, carry on! We can get this up to the 30s or 40s before Carlos'next post.
Carlos, no wonder you had to walk it, carrying so much camera equipment. Socrates would never have done that (yes, folks, it's the name of the Prime Minister! Plato is agriculture & JP Sartre is Sport). 220mm explains the zoom out to Belem & beyond. I have some 300mms from Cristo Rei archived somewhere. And I never ever thought I'd find the name Pragal mentioned on any blog! Nice one - Freedom For Pragal!
Ame, I guess I must have exhanged mails & photos with just about every blogger in Cal, (specially northern)Washington & Oregon on the terrifying likeness of these 2 bridges. It was intentional, you know. Maybe Carlos can confirm the sorry about the first paint used in 1966. They painted it gold & it lasted about 2 months. Now it's red, like yours.
Yes, it's true, I'm Stewart (aka nowhereman/milestones/soon-to-be useless horsehead), but the same one as Stuart from waaaaaaaay back, I dunno. Where from? Ed's KLDP? Ame, you are a RIOT!! How d'you do that?
OK, carry on all, only 25 or so more to go.

Ok, since we're on a similar mission at MY blog - I will contribute a comment.
So Stewart, with such a philosophical government, if the government falls , does anyone hear it?
Get it? Yeah, not funny, forgive me.
Hi Monica!

Paul, I think the Blog-Owner/Administrator should come in on this question, which certainly gave me a LOL! After all, Carlos at least gets to vote them in/out, unlike me.
I'd just say that it isn't so much a philosophical government. More of a SILLIFOSSICAL govt....And you hear every elected entity in the country start to fall here from about an hour after they are elected.

Well I guess politicians are the same everywhere - a tad greedy. Here we just call them crooks - but maybe there are one or two honest ones in your country.
