The Santo Condestável Church, in Campo de Ourique, was dedicated do Dom Nuno Álvares Pereira (1360-1431). When, in search for the Portuguese independence, he won the Battle of Atoleiros against Spain, he was nominated Condestavel (Supreme Chief of the troops). The church was inaugurated 55 years ago (August 14th, 1951) and Almada Negreiros designed the vitrals, one of its attractions.

Curiously, I like the composition just as it is. i find these 'new' churches, like São joão deDeus, Pª de Londres, cold & showing too much of their epoch under Salazar, you know Estado Novo style?
Also, i prefer your natural white to my golden Basílica. Yes, itwas a 28, inevitably (could have been a 25 too!).
As for Porelini's remark about vida, e nomeadamente, pessoas, this is going into another domaine entirely. It's a good point, but individuals, desconhecidos, requires a lot of time & attitudeto habituarse. Não seja depressa, my adviceis fornow, concentrate on mastering the camera's capacities; we HAVE TO know our cameras well. And you haveto feel comfortable aboutwhat/who you shoot, andshootalwayswith confidence. The pictures should reflectwho you are as aperson. If you arenotreadyfordoing people, then fine, wait till you are! It's YOUR MOVIE!! And you aredoing very well sofar!

Compreendo o que queres dizer em relação aos sinos. A foto foi tirada às 11 da noite, o problema é que existem, para além dos normais cendeeiros, uns projectores exteriores (clarão do lado esquerdo da imagem) e outros dentro das torres do sinos extremamente potentes. Quanto à distorção, agora que falas nisso...

Long time lurker, thought I would say hello! I really dont post much but thanks for the good times I have here. Love this place..
